Bloodlined Calligraphy

Thanks To Facedown Records I have one of Bloodlined Calligraphy's CDs. I got 30 CDs for $30 thanks to Facedown Records Grab Bag deal. I had no choice as to what CDs I would get but so far I like about 10 of them. Some of the bands (I won't mention names) were so bad I don't understand why Facedown would sign them. Facedown's best band to my opinion is For Today. This band Bloodlined Calligraphy has a female lead who does scream and moderate clear vocal. It seems they are not very popular because they don't have a Wikipedia page and no "legit" Facebook either. I can't find too much factual info on them except for what I have personally to say about their music. So they have a female screamer which is un-common but I love that! I wish I could be a screamer (I have dreams about it sometimes). She has a very good scream but nothing like Kristin Cameron of Iwrestledabearonce. They have a traditional style to them keeping the time signature consistent within a song but I respect this band for their message and having a woman lead. I like to see woman leads in bands because it shows what women can do in the metal industry. I'm not sure how you can check them out because normally this is where I say "check them out" and sometimes give you a nice little link or say they are on my playlist at the end of the screen. But they may possibly be on youtube, If not you might just have to buy their album if you are interested.

Cain And Abel

Cain & Abel is a screamo hardcore band from Menominee Falls, Wisconsin and they are on their way to making it big. I went to their show last night and I was blown away with their energy on stage and great music. I got to sit down with them and ask some questions. They say their music is influenced by August Burns Red, Sleep Serapis Sleep, Stick To Your Guns, Green Day, Fall Of Troy, System Of A Down, and The Ghost Inside. When I saw them on stage I could see they they were much more in sync with each other than most bands and when I asked them what their secret was one of them said that they just "leave all cares behind" and the other guys laughed because he seems to be the most crazy on stage. Most of the guys said that they look at past shows and what other bands are doing to learn from and do better; "We see bands just stand there but we want to have fun...". They say they "try to be as crazy as they can to an extent", they "try to keep balance" between good music and stage presence. Their lyrics "have a positive message", the album Successor is about "finding the successor in yourself" it "connects with real life situations". Bands always have a favorite band so I wanted to know what bands they would love to tour with and they said: Texas In July, Hundereth, Call Of Morale, For Today, and The Ghost Inside. For me there are several record labels I like because most of the bands under that label are pretty good so I wanted to know what labels they liked and they said: Media Scare, Rise, And Equal Vision. Cain And Abel were a really nice group of guys and I hope to see them again soon because their show was really really good. Check out their facebook

The World Alive

The World Alive is a pretty good Post-Hardcore band with some nice sounds similar to Oh,Sleeper and My Children My Bride also with a Sky Eats Airplane twist. They are signed under Fearless Records and I think I really really like them. The signer Tyler Smith was featured in We Came As Romans' song "Intentions" . Tyler joined the band after Craig Mabbitt who is currently in Escape The Fate left. They have some really cool techno stuff like We Butter The Bread With Butter. I love it!

The Plot In You

The Plot In You is a screamo band under Rise Records. They have a clear scream with nice clean vocals and some technoish parts. They have awesome breakdowns the ones that give you that feeling that just makes your heart fly. They make me smile. The Song "Small Face" reminds me of Asking Alexandria's song "The Final Episode (Lets Change The Channel)" lyric-wise but overall this song is pretty lame it's missing dynamics and a breakdown, it's very plain and is just really missing something. But the song "Miscarriage" is really good and really sad. This song has nice vocal and good lyrics. The end has an awesome a-cappella part like the end of We Came As Romans' "To Plant A Seed".

Abandon All Ships

Abandon All Ships is signed under Rise Records and all I can say is wow where have they been all my life?! They are extremely similar to Attack Attack! and so so good I love the song "Take One Last Breath". They have awesome post-hardcore techno sound that kind that just makes you feel really good. They have some similar sounds as Asking Alexandria. some songs have an awesome "party" music type feel that's really good. I am a fan of the scream tone its nice, like We Came As Romans. If Asking Alexandria, Attack Attack! and We Came As Romans had a three some Abandon All Ships would be the product.

Iwresteledabearonce

I just fell in love with Iwresteledabearonce! This band is so freakin crazy good! the screamer is a girl which is so awesome I wish I could be a screamer in a band. I can only do screamo if everything else around me is loud like at concerts I normally scream along and people look at me like I'm a freak and I'm not sure if its because they think it's weird I'm screaming or that's it's weird I actually know they words. But anyway ya this band has amazing technoness and the screaming is beast I absolutely love the song White Water In The Morning (RMX By Rampue). This song is what made me fall in love again. I knew I loved this band but I never really listened to them much but now I know I defiantly should. To me they are better than We Butter The Bread With Butter because they have a girl screamer and that's just super awesome especially because she is beast at it! she is my new hero (along with Lacey Mosely of course). I think This band has really gone out of the box with hardcore music and they have made it so beautiful to me. I see a true beautiful art in what they do.  The girl is Krysta Cameron and he reminds me of myself a lot because if there was anything I had the ability to be in a band it would be a screamer because I cant play anything and I think I have a good scream (especially when I burp). I really think Krysta Cameron is one of my top favorite people in music next to Lacey Mosley, Aaron Gillespie and Mike Hranica. But anyway I recommend iwresteledabearonce to anyone who likes We Butter The Bread With Butter or Cookiebreed.
Freakin Awesome Woman!

Hmmm Interesting....

There seems to be a new music video style that I have seen 3 times today. The music videos for My Children My Bride "Crimson Grim", Underoth's "In Division" and Asking Alexandria's "A Prophecy" all have the theme of water. All of theses music videos have water raining down and all over the place but none of the songs relate very much. It seems music videos are just becoming "cool looking" rather than relating to the song. But I guess that's not always so bad and plus there are many music videos out there that do very clearly tell a story. Avril Lavingne's videos I think are the best story telling videos I've seen. I used to be obsessed with Avril Lavigne but then I started listening to real music. jk I still love Avril she helped make me who I am today.

Dang it....

I decided to listen to Attack Attack! even though I've been trying so hard to ignore them since they got rid of Austin Carlile and I'm afraid I like them. I don't agree with their choices and reasons of getting rid of Carlile but sadly their music is beast. Freakin crazy good stuff so I guess I am now a fan again : / You know I was thinking one time about how bands always seem to have drama issues and it causes awesome bands to be done, but I was thinking, they have marriage therapy why not band therapy eh? I could become a band therapist so we don't have to see great bands die because of disagreements and drama trouble we can all work through it and be happy. :)

Scarlett O'Hara

Scarlett O'Hara is another one of those "Risecore" bands. I saw someone on some website invent the genera "Risecore" for Rise Records metalcore. It seems I tend to listen to "Risecore" often because I know I like many of the bands already but I don't like them all. But I do really like Scarlett O'Hara as of right now. I can't think of what band to compare them too but maybe Underoath. Not the new Underoath though like the "We Are All Chasing Safety" album. They got some nice clear vocal yet nothing can compare to Aaron Gillespie's voice (I love that man). The scream tone varies within a song which I don't really like but it's not too horrible. The songs change "feel" within them but they have nice breakdowns but just some songs don't seem to flow correctly. Oh and not to mention all of the guys are pretty attractive ; ). When I watch their youtube performances it's so awesome how much energy they have they look very good on stage (unlike Asking Alexandria). I love a bands music but their energy on stage really makes me like them even more. So go listen to Scarlett O'Hara click here!

My Ticket Home

I love this band and I'm not even done listening to the first song. The beginning of the song "Desertion" is really cool its like scratchy and then it builds and I just love it. The screamer is pretty good with more of a clear scream and similar to ABR but not similar sound just similar in the fact that he had a clear scream. The clear vocal could be better though, but there isn't too much clear vocal anyway. The song "Dead Weight" is also beast. Overall their sound reminds me of My Children My Bride. I am really becoming a fan. My Ticket Home is signed under Rise Records, Rise Records' bands are all pretty much beast. I recommend listening to this band if you like We Came As Romans, My Children My Bride or Onward to Olympas.

MSWHITE

So once agian I was online and came upon a band and of corse fell in love as I always say. This band MSWHITE is super good at the moment I'm in middle of listening to the song Sinking Nowhere Over the Wisdom. It has a nice beat sililar to some of the things The Devil Wears Prada does. It also has some similar sounds as Onward To Olympas. They havea very good screamer that can be compared to Spencer Chamberlain of Underoath. The Clear vocal is nice as well similar to Of Mice & Men. I the scream is like a mix between Spencer Chamberlain and Micah Kinyard from Oh, Sleeper. They are signed on Rise Records like Of Mice & Men, Attack Attack!, and plus Rise Records was where The Devil Wears Prada was originally signed. go here to hear them on facebook.

Onward To Olympas

I was on Facedown Records' website and I discovered this band Onward to Olympas and the first song I listened to was "From The Mouth" and right away I fell in love. There is this awesome part that just touches my heart and it just an awesome song. They sound similar to August Burns Red Vocal-wise but also with a We Came As Romans sound too. The songs don't have too much difference which people tend to hate but you know if it's a good sound then whats the problem? I'm all for the talent that shows in individual songs but this band isn't talentless they just need more change in sounds. They have some clear vocal as well but it isn't the best vocal I've heard. The songs are very fast paced and are in need of some good breakdowns but I'm still a fan. They have some guitar solos similar to Oh, Sleeper. Their songs are overall good but defiantly could use some work. From Facedown Records website I see they have only been around for little over a year now and have two albums, I think that's kind of crazy to have two albums already because it takes a while to make a full length album, maybe they whipped through it all and that's why it doesn't sound so great. Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on this band the song The War Within Us has a beautiful sound in the begging, normally people wouldn't call it beautiful, maybe intense but again screamo is beautiful to me so I'm different that way. I tend to see beauty and art in this genera but people tend to misconceive it as anger and "emo" but there are bands out there who put a new meaning on this genera that makes me cherish it as an art of the intensity in our souls coming through, also it attracts an audience of people who need to hear it. Well this is getting a little off topic but the main point of this post was to say go listen to Onward To Olympas! The Songs on my playlist are different than the ones on their facebook. I think, but I'm not sure yet, That their facebook songs have a different vocalist than the ones you will find on my playlist. To my opinion the songs on my playlist are better. The description of their sound I wrote above are about the songs: From The Mouth, Structures, The War Within Us, Unstoppable, and Sink or Swim. The ones on my playlist are awesome, they do have differentiation between songs, the vocal is similar to We Butter The Bread With Butter. I am more a fan of the ones you will find on my playlist rather than the ones on their Facebook. I want to find out which ones are more recent I'm guessing the facebook ones are, just because Facebook is regularly up to date but I want to find out if there was a line up change because I really can hear a difference, let me know if you do too. Oh and comment if you know any of these facts I'm wondering about.
